Apple Trees and Superheros

You know how much I loathe putting together bulletin boards, BUT it can't be helped.  I have created two so far this year.  First up, I was assigned A Healthy Body.  Gag me.  I hate health.  However, I found an idea online and (with some help from my boss), created this:

My second assignment: Superheros Wanted.  You know I can't draw, but Mr. Hubby can.  So I had a little heart to heart with him and it went like this... "Hey Luis, you like eating right?  Well, if you ever want another meal in this household you better help me draw a hero!"  (Okay, so maybe he was more than happy to help me and I didn't actually have to threaten him, but the point is, he said yes.)

 

Fun With the Mohlmans

Labor Day weekend, Luis & I had a hunkering for some good old beach fun.  We invited anyone to join us, but only one family took us up on the offer:  our very own Mohlmans.  

We headed to Salt Creek Beach, a new one to us, but one I will surely visit again.  The best part?  There is a big parking lot right there, which means we had NO parking spot hunting or constantly feeding the meter!  The worst part?  There is a big hill you have to traverse to get from your car to the beach.  Not bad on the way down.  Much worse on the way up.  

It was nice to escape our 100 degree temps and actually feel chilly.  I was especially thrilled I could keep my much-too-tight swimsuit hidden beneath my layers.  What?  Like I'm going to buy a pregnancy swimsuit NOW?

 

Another favorite for me was watching Luis with the kids.  He'll be such a good daddy!

Later that weekend, we met up with the Mohlmans again to celebrate BJ's birthday and visit Five Guys (much to Luis's delight).

The Hills Are Alive

So I got dressed today and thought my outfit looked pretty cute.  That was until I gave my ensemble some serious consideration.

I realized that no one over the age of 9 should wear a matching shirt & head wrap UNLESS that person is about to attend auditions for one of the Von Trapp Children.

Unfortunately, I was going to no audition.

Did I change my outfit? 

Nope.

Just Because!

A week or two ago, Luis came home with flowers for me... just because. 

I LOVE just because!

I was watching Elder Scott's talk on marriage and was once again reminded how important all those "little" things are in marriage.

I love reading the blog Dating Divas (linked on my page) and finding creative ways to show Luis how much I love him.  That's where I found the idea I'm blogging about now, "The All About You Basket."

Start by creating a list of 101 reasons you love your hubby.  Print them out and stick them in the back of a container.



Then, take some of those ideas and buy objects to go along with them.  I tried to think up ideas of what to buy BEFORE heading to the store so I didn't wander around and around.  Still, there were some ideas that came to me while shopping.  It was so much fun coming up with creative - and cheap - ideas.  (Plus, it has been my "quiet activity" for the past few nights as Luis studied for his final.)

I did end up spending more than I had originally planned, but feel justified because many of my items are necessities: toothbrushes, soap, clothes, silly string, etc.

Finally, put it all together.

This would be such a fun idea for a birthday or anniversary, but I couldn't wait, so I'm giving it to him

JUST BECAUSE!

A "Quakin" Good Time

Saturday night was the annual, Mormon Night at Quakes Stadium, so we got tickets and headed to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes baseball game.

We had a great time with our fellow ward members and were super excited to see our old friend from last year, Tremor.

My FAVORITE part of the night was when Tremor pulled out a toilet seat with the word GO under the lid.  He would shut the toilet, and then open it up so us fans would yell, "GO!"  This charade went on for about 10 minutes...and then I had to go the the bathroom.  Think about it, wouldn't you?

There were fireworks after the game, so we had planned to stay and see them.  We left at 10:45 when the game proceeded into inning 11.  We heard later there were a total of 14 innings, followed by the fireworks. People didn't get out of there until midnight.

Glad we left.

One Year Older and Wiser Too

One of my friends, Brandi, turned the big 30 on Sunday.   So, Jen and I plotted to steal her away Friday night, much to the help of her babysitter (aka husband).  Of course, she obnoxiously kept asking us all week what we were going to do Friday night - forcing us to lie to her - but luckily we kept our cool.  She was very surprised.

We started of by strolling the mall.  The Disney store was our first stop.

We then treated ourselves to Häagen Dazs (no pictures), and saw The Help.  We all recommend the movie, in case you're wondering.

We may have stayed out past our bedtimes (some of us are quite old now), but had some good laughs.

Storage!

I'm sure you are all pumped to read this post, given the thrilling title.  It may be a little anti-climatic, but it's my life, so I'm posting it anyways.  

I've been a bit worried about where we are going to fit baby stuff.  Our storage areas are pretty much packed.  So, we bought some more storage!

And here we are putting it together.  I would like to point out my classy outfit.  I really am looking good in my pregnancy days.

Voila!  Yay for storage!
