Our Mini to Sea World

This past weekend, we went on a mini vacation to Sea World.  It was Raquel's first trip away from home, and it was epic.
First, we arrived to our hotel.  It was your run-of-the-mill cheap hotel, so we tried to be there as little as possible.

First, we had dinner at a pizza joint that had an awesome mascot.

Then we found a doughnut lady who directed us to a nearby park.  Aren't doughnut ladies the best?
Check out Raquel's mohawk.

On Saturday morning, we got up and went down for our free continental breakfast.  The choices were limitless.

Oh wait, there was more.

Needless to say, Luis and I stuffed ourselves.

Next stop: Sea World

Quick story about Raquel's hat.  We decided the night before we left, that we needed a hat for Raquel to protect her head from the sun.  There are a disappointingly small amount of baby hats on the market, but we finally found this adorable polka dot hat.  The bad news, is that it did not match the outfit I had already picked out for her to wear.  So, Luis had to help me go through all Raquel's outfits for...I'm gonna say 30 minutes... until we finally found a matching outfit I was happy with.  Poor Luis.

Oh yeah, and this is one of two toys Luis and I bought at Sea World.  We're such shmucks.  It is semi-hideous, but I'm finding those are usually the best liked toys.

Eeeeeeee!

Normally, I wouldn't post pictures of my child's gifts MONTHS before giving them, but I can't resist.  I found this idea on pinterest to make Old MacDonald puppets and decided to give them a try.  That's right...I sewed these!!!  There is an Old MacDonald puppet too, but he's not my favorite, so I didn't make him.  Also, Luis helped me change the horse's face to look a little horse-ier.

Aren't they cute?  I'm so excited that they turned out so adorable.  (So excited that I'm making my excited noise...eeeeeeeeee!)

This is where I got the idea and instructions:

Dia De Padres y La Playa

Raquel was really excited to celebrate her first Father's Day, and so was Luis.  So excited in fact, that they were a bit cheesy about it.

We decided to get Luis a croquet set, which will = lots of fun and free date nights for the three of us.

The day before Father's Day, we got to go down to the beach for the first time as a family.  I wanted a nice, warm, relaxing day, but it turned out to be COLD!  So much for relaxing.

Bumbo Chair

Seriously, am I really dedicating an entire post to Raquel in her Bumbo chair?  Why yes, yes I am.

Look how tricky she's getting...she can do thumbs up with her toes, just like her mama!

Chow Time

I can't believe my baby is old enough for rice cereal, but old enough she is!  Raquel had mixed emotions about the whole ordeal.

She loves it!

Bouncing Babies Storytime

My cute friend (and incredible visiting teacher), Amy, got me to sign up for a bouncing baby storytime at the library.  It is really competitive to get in.  I signed up the minute online registration began and STILL got put on the waiting list.  Luckily I got a spot, so we went last Monday for our first session.

They read us a story, we sang songs, and we got to play with toys.

I must say, Raquel had the time of her life watching me play with all the toys I wouldn't let her touch.  She can't wait for next week!

The Big 10x3

It happened.  My hubby turned the big 3 0, the big 3 decades, the big 29+1, the big 10 x 3.

There is one gift he has been asking for since the day I met him, and that is a bike.  Finally, his wish came true.  (Incidentally, our 4 year old nephew Zach just received a bike for his birthday too.)  I also threw in that hand-me-down broom into the gift mix.

He also got a bocce ball set (which my Mexican pronounces "bossy ball").

Luis can't have red meat (very often) so for dinner, we splurged at Fudruckers.

I saw a cute saying on pinterest the other day that went something like...
"I may be small, but I can still wrap my daddy around my finger."

So true.  Luis gave RAQUEL a gift for his birthday.  He's totally wrapped.

We tried to put Missy to bed before having cake, but after a quick 5 min siesta, she was up and ready for some pastel.  And who can say no to a face like hers?

Not to long ago, Lu & I finished our 2 year engagement with the Eragon book series.  For his cake, I made one of the dragons from the book.  I found the idea online and it looked like this:

Too bad mine turned out like a greenish-blue cow.  Let's just pretend mine is the top picture.

Happy Big One Birthday Boy!
